WATCH: BLACKPINK Unveils Full Identity With Pre-Release Song 'PINK VENOM'

BLACKPINK is finally in our area! After a long hiatus, the quartet made their way back to the music scene with their new venomous song, "PINK VENOM"!

BLACKPINK Returns With 'PINK VENOM'

On August 19 at 12 (noon) KST, BLACKPINK officially pre-released the track "PINK VENOM" and its music video ahead of their much-awaited comeback album in September, "BORN PINK."

"PINK VENOM" is a hip-hop genre track consisting of BLACKPINK's unique charisma combined with the sound of Korean traditional instruments.

With just the intro, the song can already captivate music fans' ears due to its strong beats, not to mention the sleek rap and powerful vocals you will hear from the members throughout the song.

In the subsequent minimal beat drop part, the addictive melody of "PINK VENOM" penetrates the heart. YG Entertainment introduced that this will immediately expand the emotional line of the song and lead the listener to the climax of the music, providing a thrilling pleasure.

In regards to the MV, BLACKPINK's visuals and skills stood out. It is noticeable how the members emphasized their contrasting images of "PINK" and "VENOM."

Also, it is not BLACKPINK without promoting Korean culture. Thus, the beauty of "geomungo" and "sundial," two of Korean traditional instruments, are to look forward to.

The music video also showed BLACKPINK's full identity, which is "confidence."

Given that the MV is the highest production cost ever for YG Entertainment, K-pop fans also lauded the company's effort to give the group a high-quality comeback video.

BLACKPINK Expresses Expectations, Feelings With Comeback

Ahead of the official release, BLACKPINK held a press conference at 10 a.m. KST on the same day and broadcast it live online. During the presscon, the four members expressed their expectations for their comeback after a year and 10 months of hiatus. Jisoo said:

"We're finally making a comeback, and I'm excited and happy to greet you with new music."

Jennie also stressed:

"We are greeting you with 'PINK VENOM" and we are back with great music as much as you waited, so please look forward to it."

Although the group had a break as a whole, Rosé and Lisa have released solo songs, and Jisoo has been focusing on her personal activities including her acting debut. Due to this, BLACKPINK confessed that they missed the members while working individually.

Rosé said:

"As I became a solo artist, I felt a lot of empty spaces among the members. So I think it's fun to think about something together, make decisions, and have friends with me. I said hello and prepared more energetically."

Lisa attested to this, adding:

"I was similar to Rosé. It was fun working as a solo artist, but I felt very empty when I moved or in the waiting room (without the members). I love you. As expected, we are BLACKPINK."

As the press conference went on, the members also talked about their new song. Jennie explained the reason they decided to release "PINK VENOM" first, saying:

"From the moment we debuted under the name of BLACKPINK, 'reversal' was said to be the team's charm. We want to make it chewy, so 'PINK VENOM' is the first to be released, but I think it might be a song that contains BLACKPINK itself."

Lisa continued:

"All of the songs on the regular album we are working on are really good."

After the pre-release, BLACKPINK will unveil their 2nd full-length album, "BORN PINK," on September 16, and then start their world tour in October scheduled until 2023.

On August 17, BLACKPINK proved their global impact after the album's pre-order sales reached 1.5 million copies within a week, heralding a new record.
