Square Enix Celebrates 11 Years Of Kingdom Hearts With 'Kingdom Hearts 3' For PS4, Reveal Trailer Shown At E3

The 10th game in the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise was announced at the Sony press conference at E3 today along with other Square Enix titles like "Final Fantasy XV."

According to Joystiq, the trailer chronicled the Square Enix/Disney franchise before showing gameplay footage of Sora battling the Heartless.

The third official title in the series was announced by director Tetsuya Nomura shortly after the release of "Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep" in 2010, reported Polygon.

It has been eight years since the release of "Kingdom Heart II," though other spin-off titles have been released, such as "Kingdom Hearts Re:coded," "Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance," and "Kingdom Hearts 358/2."

"Dream Drop Distance" was released for the 3DS last summer to set up the storyline for "Kingdom Hearts 3," which could be the series' final installment.

With no release date as of yet, it is highly likely the announced title "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX" will be released to pave the way for the third title in the trilogy.
