TWICE Jihyo Confesses Members Didn't Know Others Renewed Contracts
Prior to TWICE making their comeback with their eleventh mini album "BETWEEN 1&2," it was announced that all nine members of the group renewed their exclusive contracts with JYP Entertainment back in July. With this news, fans were ecstatic to find that TWICE had overcome the infamous "seven year curse" that K-pop groups often face in the industry.
But recently on August 25, GRAMMY.com shared an interview they had with all nine members of the group. During this interview, TWICE's leader Jihyo revealed an interesting information regarding the members' contract renewals with JYP Entertainment.
According to the article released by GRAMMY.com, Jihyo revealed that the members themselves weren't aware that all of them had renewed their exclusive contracts with the label up until before JYP Entertainment made the official announcement.
"We didn't realize that all members have renewed their contracts until right before the official announcement," Jihyo said in the interview.

Naturally, TWICE fans, ONCEs, were surprised by this information. With many believing that the members would discuss such an important topic as a whole group.
Jihyo Clarifies Misunderstanding on Group's Contract Renewals
However on August 26, Jihyo took to the fan messaging app Bubble to clarify the misunderstanding brought by GRAMMY.com's translation.
Over on Bubble, Jihyo explained that she read the article and realized that a mistranslation had occurred. "I realized this while reading some of the articles [about us]. I think there had been a mistranslation!" Jihyo said.
She then clarified that she didn't mean the members didn't know about the others renewing their contracts until the official announcement, but rather they didn't know how the renewals would turn out until they sat down to sign them.
"I meant that none of us really knew how the renewals would go until the contracts were actually drafted and we sat down to sign them. I was trying to explain that it is not at all easy for everyone to be on the same page," she said.

Jihyo continued, "It wasn't guaranteed necessarily that we would all want to renew [contracts], which is fine because it is our lives! I wanted to emphasize that it was super important that we were able to make our own choices. But I think the interview ended up getting translated otherwise."
Finally, she concludes by reassuring fans that it "doesn't matter" as they are still TWICE. "But yeah, whatever! [It] doesn't matter because we are still TWICE, OT9. It is not that big of a deal whether we knew or not!!!" She concluded.
Despite that, we are still glad they renewed their contracts!
