While a lot of K-pop idols rose to fame after their debut, some K-pop idols were already quite popular when they were still trainees. In fact, some were famous among other trainees in their agencies, mainly because of their visuals, skills, and their participation in survival shows.
Because there are several of them, we'll only talk about a few. Here are five K-pop idols who were popular trainees in their companies.

When Yeonjun was still training, he had quite the reputation because he excelled in many things, such as singing, dancing, and rapping. Also, Yeonjun was also in first place in a monthly evaluation test. Because of his exceptional skills, Yeonjun was labeled as "Big Hit's Legendary Trainee."

2. BLACKPINK Lisa
BLACKPINK Lisa is also a K-pop idol who was a popular trainee in her agency, which is YG Entertainment.
In the Netflix documentary "BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky," Caroline Suh, the director of the said documentary, talked about Lisa's bright personality in an interview. She said:

Apart from her personality, the other BLACKPINK members also shared with Caroline Suh that Lisa was an outstanding trainee, as she aced almost everything.
"And the members mentioned that Lisa aced everything back when they were trainees. She's humorous and she knows how to not take herself too seriously. So even after having become a huge star, she likes to joke around. She has one chill personality."
3. TWICE Mina
A former JYP Entertainment trainee once spoke about TWICE and shared that Mina was pretty popular among male trainees due to her visuals. It is also said that she only smiled when the male trainees said she was pretty. Even though Mina was well-known as a trainee, she never acted arrogantly or bragged about this, even after her debut.
4/5. WINNER Seungyoon and Seunghoon
WINNER members Seungyoon and Seunghoon were also popular trainees under YG Entertainment. Why? It's because they first competed in survival shows.
Seungyoon was a contestant on "Superstar K2," where he finished in fourth place. Seungyoon even debuted as a solo artist under YG Entertainment before participating in the company's survival show "WIN: WHO IS NEXT."
