Mumford & Sons Cancel 3 Sold-out U.S. Concerts Due To Bassist’s Surgery For Brain Blood Clot

British band Mumford & Sons' bassist Ted Dwane was rushed to the hospital on Monday, June 10, due to a blood clot on the brain. Mumford & Sons has cancelled three sold-out concerts in the U.S. to allow time for Dwane's recovery.

"Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment," fellow band members Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall and Ben Lovett said in a statement, Us Weekly reports.

"The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery," the statement said.

Mumford & Sons has postponed concerts Tuesday in Dallas, Wednesday in The Woodlands in Texas and Thursday in New Orleans, according to Fox News. The statement said that all performances will be rescheduled "and announced as quickly as we can."

The band's website also says the crew has no plans to cancel or postpone any other shows on the current tour. Mumford & Sons has a headlining gig Saturday at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee. Mumford & Sons is also scheduled to perform at the UK's biggest musical festival, Glastonbury, on June 30.

Mumford & Sons won Album of the Year for "Babel" at the Grammy awards in February and the British Group award at the BRIT awards, Reuters reports. Dwane plays bass, drums, guitar, and sings with the four-member band, which formed in 2007.
