Pokemon X And Y Update: E3 Pokemon Q&A Session Reveals New Rivals, New Mounts, And Sky Battles

During the highly anticipated E3 Pokemon Q&A session with Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara and Game Freak director Junichi Masuda, a series of tidbits have been revealed for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y to be released worldwide on October 12.

Here is a quick rundown of news regarding Pokemon X and Y revealed during the session.

According to Pokejungle, riding certain Pokemon as mounts is exclusive to certain areas. Two of the confirmed mounts include Rhyhorn and new Pokemon Gogoat.

There will be a new Team to face against, and possibly more than one rival. And as previously reported, there is 8-directional movement unlike the 4-directional movement traditional to previous releases.

The new fairy-type Pokemon is being introduced as a counterpart to dragon-type Pokemon. Currently, there is no confirmation on how many new Pokemon there will be, nor how many total in the Pokedex.

On a similar topic, backwards compatibility is currently being worked on, though no confirmation as of yet.

As previously reported, the new Pokemon-Amie system allows players to feed, train, and take care of their Pokemon, which can enhance critical or dodge chances. In addition, players can choose the battle music as they see fit.

During a live demo, sky battles were introduced which occur in a battle between fly-type Pokemon.

According to Vooks, a new battle mode called "horde encounters" is being introduced where one Pokemon can take on four or even five Pokemon at once.

A "Player Search System," or PSS, allows players to see each other on the game map wherever they may be. This is reportedly a local system and always connected, and players can battle or even trade using this system.

Finally, several new Pokemon were introduced during demos, including a water-type Pokemon called Clauncher, and Skrelp, a poison/water-type.

Stay tuned for more E3 and Pokemon updates!
