No iPhone 5S Release Date Announcement At WWDC 2013: Apple Dropping The ‘5S’ To Make Way For iPhone 6?

Surprisingly, there was no announcement during Apple's WWDC 2013 regarding the iPhone 5S release date or anything about the phone at all.

The WWDC 2013 surprised the majority of the attendees with exciting news about iOS 7, the OS X Mavericks, the new Mac Pro and Macbook Air, but fans didn't totally forgot about the iPhone 5S, which was a no-show during the event.

Apple fans were expecting the tech company to make an announcement regarding new mobile hardware, such as the iPhone 5S, but there was no information about its release date or specs during the event.

The iPhone 5S is supposed to be a minor upgrade only to the current flagship device, the more-or-less 8-month old iPhone 5. But since there was no announcement made about iPhone 5S release date, perhaps the CEO, Tim Cook is cooking up some not-so-minor upgrades to the next-generation phone.

Reports have emerged that Apple is planning to skip the iPhone 5S release date to focus more on the iPhone 6 launching that is rumored to sport a 4.8 inch screen display. There is allegely a huge possibility that Apple will drop the iPhone 5S to break the tradition of releasing next-gen phones with minor upgrades.

Will Stabley of Stabley Times provided some reasons why Apple may break its tradition this year and not release the iPhone 5S. According to Stabley, the tech company has been trying to get rid of their 'S' schedule for years already (with the delay of the iPhone 4S before as one piece of evidence) so they will only be releasing phones with high-end upgrades.

Though rumors spread that the iPhone 5S would be dropped after no announcement was made during the WWDC 2013, several leaked photos of the supposed iPhone 5S claim otherwise. Reportedly, the phone will still sport the same screen size as the iPhone 5, a dual core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
