Ray Liotta Joins ‘Revenge Of The Green Dragons’ Cast: Martin Scorsese To Produce, Glee’s Harry Shum Jr. To Star In NY Gang Film

Ray Liotta has joined the cast of "Revenge Of The Green Dragons," directed by Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Liotta will be acting alongside Harry Shum Jr. of "Glee" and Justin Chon of the "Twilight" saga in the film. Production is scheduled to begin this week in New York.

Scorsese won an Oscar for his previous adaptation of an Andrew Lau film: "The Departed." "The Departed" was a remake of Lau's Hong Kong gangster movie "Internal Affairs."

In "Revenge Of The Green Dragons," Liotta will play the head New York detective investigating the brutal Green Dragons gang and tracking them down.

The New York gang film is based on Fredric Dannen's article about the murder investigation of the Green Dragons, a gang of Asian young adults in Chinatown, which appeared in the New Yorker in 1992.

Michael Di Jiacomo adapted the New Yorker article into the script.

According to IMDB, the story is "a gritty, violent take on a true immigrant story set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City's Chinatown."

Harry Shum Jr. will play an immigrant who, along with his brother (Justin Chon), rise and fall in the ranks of the Green Dragons.

Eugenia Yuan of "Memoirs of a Geisha" is set to star in the film as well.

Kevin Wu, who is famous for his YouTube channel KevJumba, is also reportedly involved in the movie.

The release date of "Revenge Of The Green Dragons" has not yet been revealed. Check back for updates as production for the film continues.
