Naomi Watts Is Very Quiet In ‘Diana’ Trailer: No Dialogue But Spot-on Resemblance To The Princess

The trailer to "Diana," starring Naomi Watts, has a lot of imagery but no dialogue. Watts' face isn't even show until halfway through the trailer, which was released today.

"Diana" is directed by Olivier Hirschbiegel and focuses on the last two years of the U.K.'s Princess Diana's life, including her humanitarian efforts and her affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews), CBS News reports.

The trailer is very quiet - no dialogue is featured in the minute-long video. But the trailer is heavy with imagery, including grandiose music, crowds of people, and camera flashes from paparazzi. Media sources have raved about Watts' uncanny resemblance to Diana, including her feathered hair and warm personality.

The Los Angeles Times reports Watts' difficulty with the role. She told The Times that she faced the challenge of displaying Princess Diana's most iconic appearances but not descending into stale imitation of the royal.

Watts also hit another hurdle - the shooting schedule for "Diana" was delayed after Andrews broke his leg during filming.

"We had to stop and now we are going back," Watts said last October. "It's like being terrified all over again. Nothing measures up to that kind of pressure."

"Diana" will open in U.K. theaters in September. A U.S. release date has not yet been set, but sources say the film will premiere sometime this year.
