'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting Rumors: Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Alexander Skarsgard As Christian Grey?

Celebrity names continue to pop up on social media as fans of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel speculate who will star as the seductive lead Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated film adaption. The biggest contenders seem to be Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, and Alexander Skarsgard.

Fans can't wait to see Henry Cavill on the big screen in his spandex Superman costume when "Man of Steel" hits theaters June 14. Even ABC News correspondent Katie Couric couldn't help herself on her daytime talk show "Katie," when she exclaimed that Cavill was "too ridiculously good-looking" and that his physical "packaging" must get in the way of his acting, Mstars News reports.

The clip of Couric's comment has circulated the Internet, and has sparked the suggestion that Cavill, 30, could play Grey in E.L. James' film adaption of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Australian Chris Hemsworth is another popular contender for the role of Grey. The 29-year-old "Snow White and the Huntsman" star has frequently been asked by the media how he feels about the casting rumors, but it seems as though Hemsworth is not very interested in pursuing the part.

Mstars News reports that during an interview with Celebuzz, Hemsworth laughed at the interviewer when asked if he had heard of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Hemsworth said he had never read the trilogy and doesn't know why people are drawn to the books other than the fact that it's a "sexual, romantic, trashy... something (in a good way)," Mstars News writes.

He concludes that he "doesn't know" if he'd be interested in playing the part of Grey.

Hemsworth might also be too busy to play Christian Grey. "Thor: The Dark World" comes out next November and "Rush," a biopic about Formula 1 racer Niki Lauda, comes out in September 2013. Hemsworth is also currently filming "Robopocalypse" and a sequel to "The Avengers." The Aussie also just had a baby daughter this year with Spanish actress Elsa Pataky.

Several "Fifty Shades of Grey" fans have voted 36-year-old Swede Alexander Skarsgard as a perfect actor to play Christian Grey. These rumors have recently resurfaced after a picture of Skarsgard cuddling with his "The East" co-star Ellen Page appeared online.

However, Skarsgard and Page continue to insist that they're only "really good friends," according to The International Business Times.

Fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" might just have to wait for confirmation of the film's cast.
