Charice Pempengco 2013: Former 'Glee' Star Says She Knew She Was Lesbian Since She Was 5, Came Out To Her Mom At 18

International singing sensation Charice Pempengco, 21, in an interview with a Filipino TV station said she knew since she was five-years old that she was different from her female friends.

She told Prof. Winnie Monsod, a talk show host at GMA News in the Philippines that she had fallen in love with a female classmate when she was young.

“I remember bringing her home and got lost on my way back,” the former Glee star told Monsod in her native tongue Tagalog. Pempengco added that her feelings for the young girl is like how love is characterized in miniseries because, “I really really like her.”

Though some guys were linked to her, she never felt anything for them, Charice said.

She told her mom, Racquel Pempengco, that she was gay when she turned 18. Her mom’s view on the issue is like a roller coaster, “sometimes it’s okay, sometimes it’s not,” according to the singer.

Charice admitted that her financial stability, primarily from earnings on recording contracts and shows, is part of the reason why she decided to come out publicly.

She also cited her detractors and critics as a force as to why she disclosed her true sexuality.

Early this month, in a highly anticipated interview with talk show host Boy Abunda, Charice admitted that she was a lesbian ending months of speculation about her sexuality.

In an interview with the blog Interkasyon, Charice said she’s currently dating X-Factor Philippine star contestant, Alyssa Quijano.

The singer who was called by Oprah “the most talented girl in the world” is scheduled to do performances in Indonesia and Germany this year. She is also currently working on her third studio album in the Philippines.
