BLACKPINK Reportedly 'Determined' To Renew Contract With YG Entertainment
On March 4, music officials and insiders told the Korean media outlet Star News about the high expectancy level of BLACKPINK renewing their contract with its agency, YG Entertainment.
In particular, the quartet who debuted in 2016 will have their respective contracts expire at the end of August.

Initially, there was skepticism that the "BOOMBAYAH" singers will stay in the company due to impressive offers especially abroad to the members, yet officials close to the members claimed that the four members will most likely continue their relationship with YG unless a special reason came they had to leave the company.
Officials Predict Reason BLACKPINK Will Prefer To Stay In YG Entertainment
Insiders then supported this claim by stating:
"The impact of the world tour seems to have been great."
Currently, BLACKPINK is still conducting its world tour, "BORN PINK," the largest world tour among K-pop girl groups expected to meet 1.5 million spectators around the globe. The concert started in Seoul, going to North America in seven cities, followed by its European tour in seven cities and now, they were embarking on its Asian leg.
Aside from this, BLACKPINK is also scheduled to perform as the headliner at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the US this mid-April, then the fun will continue at the British Summer Time Festival Hyde Park in the United Kingdom in July.
Officials then continued that these things achieved and will be achieved as one by the quartet "seems to have further increased trust in YG Entertainment."
Although there are divided opinions from BLINKs (BLACKPINK fandom) on whether they want the members to stay in YG or move to a better company with a global-scale market, it is said that it's going to work best for both sides if the team will remain. YG gets to keep its strongest artist, while the team got to keep its name to continue promoting as a group.
In the case the four members decided to part ways with YG, it is expected that they will continue their respective jobs as global ambassadors and soloists whereas Jennie and Jisoo were speculated to expand their careers as actresses.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, which officially debuted on August 8, 2016, has been active for nearly seven years and has stood tall as a top global girl group. It has set brilliant records in leading overseas charts such as the Billboard Chart and has established itself as a "global hot icon" with all members serving as global brand ambassadors.
