PlayStation 4 Pre-orders Receiving High Demand; Amazon May Not Guarantee Sony PS4 Release Date Delivery

Due to high demand for the PlayStation 4, Amazon decided to split pre-orders for Sony's next generation gaming console. Sony PS4 release date is set on the holiday season but it is already receiving some favorable demand in the market.

The popular shopping site, Amazon, already started telling the customers that it may not be able to meet all the demand for the Sony PlayStation 4, thus, they put up a second option for the interested buyers. Aside from a 'launch edition' for PS4, Amazon also created a 'standard edition' for the shoppers. There will not be any difference in terms of the console itself, but with standard edition, there is no guarantee that the buyers will be able to receive their unit exactly during its launching day.

Based on a Washington Post report, there is a note on the Amazon site that reads, "The standard version of the PlayStation 4 is identical to Launch Edition. "Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee Release-Date Delivery on the standard version of the PlayStation 4. We will deliver the standard version of PlayStation 4 as close to its release date as possible."

The Sony Playstation 4 price starts at $399 each, and it already comes with one unit of Dualshock Controller 4. Additional Dual Shock Controller 4 and PlayStation Eye 4 may be purchased separately. On the other hand, the pre-order status for the launch day shipment of rival console of Sony PS4, the Microsoft Xbox One is still available. The Xbox One price is higher than the Sony PS4 as it is worth $499.

Sony and Microsoft have not announced yet any specific number of units they set aside for the pre-order batch of their respective consoles but it is very clear, based on online demand from Amazon, that the Sony PS4 has the upper hand now. Both Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One made big news when they were revealed during the Electronic Entertainment Expo or the E3 2013, which was attended by 48,200 journalists, retailers and professionals.
