NewJeans are recognized by TIME magazine as one of their "next generation leaders," due to their songs, presence, and impact on the music industry.
Here's what they said.
NewJeans Named As TIME's 'Next Generation Leaders'
NewJeans are proving their timeless influence globally.
On May 23, NewJeans was featured in TIME Magazine's report, where they were included as one of its "Next Generation Leaders."
The magazine also included videos, where they listed fellow next generation leaders Florence Pugh, Rene Silva, Sage Lenier, Rōze Traore, Bizarrap, Drew Afualo, Henry Tse, Melanie Perkins, and Matt Firzpatrick.
NewJeans' video was uploaded on May 23, when the "Ditto" hitmakers were interviewed by TIME magazine. The feature content began with Hanni expressing their lucky inclusion in today's K-pop generation, given how much popularity and love it's been receiving.
Despite their huge achievements in less than a year since their debut, Hanni still focused on the members' close relationship with each other, as well as their passion in creating music. With their current group chemistry, Hanni stated they will anticipate what the future holds for them.
"For us to be a part of K-pop in this day and age, I think we're very lucky because it's been really growing and blowing up a lot internationally as well and getting a lot of attention and recognition."
"For us, I would say if we continued to just, you know, enjoy each other's company and performing, and just doing music with each other and work hard, then whatever the future holds for us, we're looking forward to all of it."
Member Minji then elaborated the group's expression when it comes to their performances. The idol also explained how each member shines individually. Moreover, Minji also imparted how members enjoy their own music and how freestyling is evident in the choreography.

"Well, I think we think of it more like, we're dancing to music we enjoy, our songs, each in our own way. Of course, there's a set of choreography, but each person is expressing the choreography as we hear the music."
"So for some people, it might look we're in perfect sync in some parts and expressing a little differently at times, which might feel more like a freestyle."
NewJeans Members Share Thoughts on Skyrocketing Popularity
Hanni also mentioned the virality that "OMG" amassed online, which received love from their senior groups, and the general public.
"When we debuted as well, a lot of our seniors covered (our songs), with the little dance challenges stuff on TikTok."
"It was just a lot of fun to watch and we're so grateful that they listened to our song, and even posted videos of them dancing."
Danielle followed up, expressing her gratitude in being a NewJeans member.
"It's such a pleasure, and I can't imagine us doing anything else, to be honest."
