Selena Gomez was supposed to shed her prepubescent "Disney" image with her starring turn in "Springbreakers," but she'll have to shed all her clothes in a film role if she wants "go in a more adult direction," says a Hollywood manager.

Ray Manzella, a Hollywood agent, told HollywoodLife.com that a Selena Gomez nude scene would help her go in a more adult direction as she attempts to put her Disney child actor past in her rearview window. 

"I don't feel it would hurt her career. She clearly wants to go in a more adult direction and doing a well-chosen, properly planned topless scene, or even a tasteful pictorial, would certainly announce to the world that she's grown up. I don't believe society would fault her for it."

Manzella goes on, and says that she doesn't need to go nude in order to be taken seriously. "Selena's so young and already has such a big career, she certainly doesn't need to do nudity to increase her fame."

If a future Selena Gomez nude scene does happen, it would have to be for artistic purposes rather than to increase her, already substantial, fame.

Gomez is already incredibly famous, and continues to be one of Hollywood's biggest names despite breaking up with her even-more-famous former boyfriend, Justin Bieber. 

Selena, for her part, doesn't have a problem baring all on film, if the right role calls for it.

Just a couple days ago, a source close to Gomez told HollywoodLife.com, "Now that Selena is growing up to be a more serious actress and separating herself from her Disney past, she has no problem going topless if the role calls for it."

The source added that "Without a doubt, Selena would go topless in a film if the role was right." 

So why didn't Selena go nude in Springbreakers, the raunchy and clothing optional Spring Break post modern pastiche from avant-garde director, Harmony Korine?

Her character didn't fit and maybe it would have been a little too much too soon, since she is just-now shedding the Disney image that made her a household name on Wizards of Waverly Place. 

The idea of a nude Selena Gomez scene might be enough to entice horny teenage boys to go see a Gomez film they'd usually avoid, but the trick for Gomez is to make sure she's not doing a nude scene just to take her clothes off. 

It's got to have artistic merit if she's going to go sans clothing because that's the only way it would further her blossoming film career.
