Ahead of their official comeback on July 11, NMIXX's pre-release track, "Roller Coaster," is earning positive reactions from NSWERs and K-pop fans. Here's why.
NMIXX Drops B-Sidetrack 'Roller Coaster' + MV
Prior to their official return, NMIXX pre-released their b-sidetrack "Roller Coaster" simultaneously with its music video on July 3. The new song is part of their third single album, "A Midsummer NMIXX's Dream," which also comprised the title track, "Party O'Clock."
All are set to be officially released on July 11.

Meanwhile, "Roller Coaster" is a song that compares the overflowing feeling of love the person feels for the first time to a roller coaster. It also expresses NMIXX's thrilling and mysterious love that doesn't know where to bounce, but grows surprisingly because they are together.
The music video also caught the attention of fans for its vintage atmosphere that resembles a movie. Wearing school uniforms, the six members also flaunted refreshing visuals that go along well with the freshness of the early summer.
NMIXX's 'Roller Coaster' Garners Rave Reviews – Is It Goodbye To Their 'MIXX POP' Concept?
In online communities and social media platforms, fans agreed that the song and the genre definitely suit NMIXX. Some even claimed that the sextet finally found their own "sound."
- "The song is honestly so good."
- "This is the first time I am enjoying an NMIXX song, I'll add it to my playlist."
- "Lily's high note made me doubt she's a human. The song is so refreshing I can envision frizzy water."
- "Haewon's vocals are so stable."
- "Their vocal colors and quality stood out."
- "It was freaking good."
- "They killed this song!"
Through this song, NSWERs were able to experience a different side of NMIXX, who dropped their first-ever summer song with a bossa nova rhythm, funky and soulful sound based on the urban house genre.
This song drifted away from their promised MIXX POP concept, an attempt of JYP Entertainment to introduce a new genre by mixing two or more genres into one song to feel various charms at the same time, just like their debut song, "O.O."
While there are fans who prefer MIXX POP and pointed out that "Roller Coaster" sounds "unoriginal" and "generic," NSWERs defended the team and claimed that NMIXX might have actually incorporated the various genres in this song, which is the whole point of mixx pop.
In addition, JYP also hinted at the title track being a mixx pop song; thus, it seems like they will continue to release songs under the concept going forward.
On the flip side, some are hoping NMIXX will actually let go of the MIXX POP concept and do the trendy concepts instead, which will gain them more fans in the long run with just their impressive vocals and dance skills.
