BLACKPINK Jennie Denied Vlog at Temple — Here's Why!

Black Pink member Jennie's request to film a vlog at a temple has been rejected, as concerns arise regarding the commercialization of Buddhism. The incident came to light when a video titled 'There is no way to get faster' was uploaded on YouTube channel Jo Kwon's Bo Kwon Mal Kwon on the 13th.

The Reason Behind Jennie's Rejection

In the video, Jo Kwon and Kim Ho-young visited a temple, temporarily setting aside their usual energetic demeanor to engage in a peaceful meditation session.

During a conversation with a monk, Kim Ho-yeong mentioned that he had studied meditation as a required subject during his time at Dongguk University, but confessed to often dozing off during those classes.

In response, the monk provided some guidance, emphasizing that meditation should be approached without constraints and that comfort is key. Demonstrating his own technique, the monk explained, "Right now, I am simply inhaling and exhaling, focusing on a single breath."

As the conversation continued, Jo Kwon expressed a waning interest in material possessions, stating that he was trying to embrace a mindset of owning nothing. Kim Ho-young, however, advised him to maintain a sense of ownership in his content, suggesting that it was not the time to dismiss the idea of ownership altogether.

Interestingly, the monk also revealed that BLACKPINK Jennie had previously expressed her desire to film a vlog at a temple, but her request was declined.

This rejection raised concerns for the monk regarding the potential commercialization and exploitation of Buddhism, fearing that the temple could become a mere sanctuary for fans rather than a place of true spiritual practice.

Jo Kwom Amused By The Words of The Monks

Jo Kwon found amusement in the monk's words, remarking, "I was filmed," to which the monk responded with a lighthearted comment, stating that Jo Kwon had not yet reached the necessary level for such a privilege. The unexpected reason provided by the monk for refusing the vlog request added a touch of laughter to the conversation.

The incident involving Jennie's vlog request highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the appropriate boundaries between religious sanctuaries and the world of commercial entertainment.

It raises questions about the potential commodification of sacred spaces and practices, as well as the responsibility of celebrities and content creators when engaging with religious or spiritual themes.
