Contrary to her signature long, blonde hair, Mia made fans' jaws drop with her drastic transformation into short, blue hair.
As soon as her photos circulated online, Mia became the center of attention, and K-pop fans couldn't stop talking about her.
As the topic of Mia's hairstyle continues, some decided to ask the idol directly through EVERGLOW's fan café about the behind-story of her short hair, the shortest cut she's had throughout her idol career.
But to fans' surprise, Mia revealed that it wasn't her or her stylist's decision to cut it.
"Where did my hair go… I was surprised too… my hair… It wasn’t my choice. It wasn’t the hairstylist’s choice."
The "DUN DUN" singer confessed that she's not a fan of it either.
"(I'm) disturbed (by it)."
She then revealed the reason, adding:
“The upset feeling I get while having my haircut… thinking will it suit me… will Forever like it… etc…”
Forevers Criticize EVERGLOW's Agency Yuehua Entertainment
As Forevers' excitement quickly dampened following Mia's revelation, the fandom immediately called out Yuehua Entertainment. They speculated that if the stylist or the idol herself weren't behind the decision of cutting her hair short, it was most likely the label's idea.
Fans expressed their disappointment, criticizing how the company is trying to control and manage the idol's image to the point that they will push through a certain style even if it violates their artist's right to have preferences.
Forevers who especially advocate for idols to have autonomy when it comes to their personal style and outfit choices supported Mia for being vocal about it and holding hands to demand Yuehua to give artists freedom when it comes to their aesthetics.
On the other hand, Forevers and internet users who saw this lauded Mia for her professionalism. Impressively, she still managed to pull off her new haircut despite being strongly against it.
