Shawols Call Out SHINee Key & Taemin for Doing Colorist Joke to Minho: 'They can do better...'

Shawols can't tolerate the SHINee members' wrongdoing. Following the group's recent YouTube content, they called out Taemin and Key for making a colorist joke about Minho.

SHINee Taemin & Key Make Fun of Minho's Skin

Shawols (fandom) were happy with the latest "SHINee.ing" episode featuring the three members, but it suddenly raised the brows after Key and Taemin made a colorist comment about Minho.

In particular, the members who haven't met fans for a while after their comeback in June were seen in a new YouTube content posted on their official channel.

Undoubtedly, Shawols laughed about their constant bickering in the video, which just showed the members' close relationship for more than 15 years.

All was well until Key and Taemin suddenly team up to call out Minho for having tanned skin due to his frequent outdoor activities such as golfing.

Minho has been persuading members to play golf with him for a long time and he once again invited them to join him during the broadcast.

However, the members showed signs of disapproval, making random excuses such as not being able to use the golf content due to copyright infringement.

But it didn't stop there, as Taemin started to bring up Minho getting tanned skin after golfing.

"But Hyung, when I see you after you play golf, all I can see are only the whites of your eyes and teeth, really."

Taemin who implied that Minho has become "too dark" to see anything aside from his eyes and teeth was seconded by Key and made fun of him.

"Why did you get so tanned? If Minho will close his eyes and mouth at night, you'll be like, 'Minho...' (pretends he couldn't find Minho in the dark)."

When the clip circulated online, the group's fandom couldn't hold themselves back and decided to call out Taemin and Key for making fun of Minho's tanned skin.

As a senior K-pop group with 15 years of experience, fans expected that they would be aware and be wary of making a remark regarding one's color, given that they have supporters of all ages with varying races and colors from all over the world.

As a result, Shawols called out the members through their social media platforms as well as on Bubble, the fandom-communicating platform used by SM Entertainment artists.

While there are fans who tried to defend the members by saying that they were just bickering like lifelong friends would do, many explained that it wouldn't be an excuse to make a colorist joke to someone.

Some fans also blamed the toxic culture and norms of South Korea's beauty standards where in order for one to be beautiful, having fair skin is a requirement. In fact, fans think it's really problematic that even the video's editor didn't find it wrong.

As of writing, SHINee's official channel edited and deleted the controversial part where Taemin and Key made the remark about Minho.

However, Shawols wouldn't back down and continued to call out the members, hoping that they would publicly recognize their mistake and address the situation bravely.

In the meantime, the fans decided to pour beautiful words and positive comments on Minho's Bubble and SNS, reminding him how beautiful his tanned skin is, and that he should continue to be confident and proud about it.
