In a significant turn of events, the K-Pop sensation iKON made headlines at the close of 2022 by announcing their departure from their longtime home, YG Entertainment.

The group, comprising all six members, opted to continue their collective journey under the banner of 143 Entertainment, marking a new chapter in their careers.

From YG's Embrace to Freedom 

This decision was met with applause from fans as iKON wasted no time in revving up their music releases, promotional activities, and schedules. Notably, they embarked on a global tour titled "TAKE OFF," which took flight in Seoul during the month of May.

The U.S. leg of the tour saw its inaugural stop in New York on September 5, where iKON took a moment to converse with K-Pop columnist Jeff Benjamin.

During this candid discussion, they shed light on the motivations behind their departure from the company that had nurtured them, YG Entertainment.

iKON member Bobby revealed the members met "a really nice guy" from 143 Entertainment, who told them about the company and offered them a "unique opportunity" to learn more about the inner workings of the entertainment industry. 

Elaborating further, Bobby conveyed the group's long-standing desire to gain deeper insights into the industry, a quest that had persisted since their youth. It was 143 Entertainment that provided them with the platform to explore this aspiration.

In acknowledging YG Entertainment's merits, Bobby also noted that it was indeed a "beautiful and great company."

However, a critical distinction emerged as he shared that YG had been responsible for virtually all aspects of their career, leaving iKON with a limited role that revolved around performing on stage and creating music.

Meanwhile,In recent, iKON Bobby is reportedly leaving YG Entertainment after his contract with the company expires. The agency has since issued a statement.
