However, amidst the glittering facade of this entertainment world, several K-pop idols have encountered the harsh reality of body shaming and fat-shaming from online communities. 

Overcoming Weight-Based Controversies 

TWICE Jihyo

TWICE Jihyo, a prominent member of the highly acclaimed girl group, has been thrust into the spotlight of body-shaming controversies surrounding her weight. 

One qoura user commented "Twice Jihyo fat body is so ugly tbh". Despite the harsh criticism she faced, Jihyo has remained resilient, serving as a notable figure in the fight against body negativity and emphasizing the importance of embracing diverse body types.  

Nevertheless, she emerged as a beacon of body positivity, championing the message that "Beauty encompasses a diverse range of shapes and sizes"

Red Vlevet Wendy

 Wendy, one of the esteemed members of the internationally acclaimed group Red Velvet, has unfortunately experienced the damaging effects of fat-shaming.

However, in the face of these fat shaming, Wendy has demonstrated remarkable resilience and unwavering self-confidence, allowing her to persevere and flourish in her flourishing career. She believes that "The prettiest look is being confident in oneself"

BLACKPINK Jisoo

Jisoo, a vital member of the globally recognized girl group Blackpink, found herself subjected to the distressing phenomenon of body shaming, which took aim at her distinctive "rectangle" body shape. 

Netizens have been commenting on BLACKPINK's Jisoo's body shape and proportions.They claimed that her body appeared fat and looked dull.

However BLACKPINK Jisoo remained positive despite of harsh criticism and she believe that "Body Doesn't Define Talents"

MAMAMOO Hwasa

TWICE Tzuyu

Tzuyu, yet another member of Twice, was subjected to body shaming despite her naturally slender figure. These instances highlight the unrealistic and often unattainable beauty standards imposed upon K-pop idols.

The prevalence of such body shaming is disheartening, especially when considering the immense pressures already placed upon idols to conform to a particular image.

As the K-pop industry continues to evolve, it is paramount for society to promote body positivity and challenge the unrealistic beauty standards to which idols are subjected.
