In the 405th episode of JTBC's entertainment show, "Knowing Brothers," a "Knowing Korean Competition" was held among K-pop idols who came from various countries around the world. One of the guests was Dita, who was the first Indonesian idol of Balinese ethnicity who debuted as the main dancer of the girl group, Secret Number.
During the broadcast, Dita's full real name, Anak Agung Ayu Puspa Aditya Karang, became the center of attention after she mentioned that she's actually of royal descent.
Regarding the inquiry if the longer a name the higher the status, Dita explained that the three words of her name were her title, while the rest was her name.
"The first three words, 'Anak Agung Ayu," literally mean 'precious children' and mean royal, while the rest is my name."
In particular, "Anak Agung Ayu" is a title-like name given to a princess and her name "Karang" was given because she is a direct descendant of King Karangasem.
Compared to other foreign countries where people can name their children whatever they want, naming in Bali incorporates significant meaning and symbolism.
When asked if she lives in the palace if she is a royal, Dita honestly said:
"I'm a Bali royal, so when we go to Bali, there are some family members living in the palace, but I live at home."
She further explained about her status as a princess, saying:
"Nowadays, I don't care about it like that, I just have the name."
Is Secret Number Dita's Family Rich?
In the same broadcast, she was asked about how she fell in love with K-pop and Dita said:
"I liked 2NE1 a lot, so I did a lot of cover dances when I was in high school. I've always played the role of Park Bom."
The Yogyakarta-born of Balinese descent then flew to the US to pursue a performer career. She enrolled in the American Musical and Dramatic Academy’s (AMDA) dance theater program.
Later on, she flew to South Korea to join 1MILLION dance classes and later on got accepted by VINE Entertainment as a trainee.
By being able to enter two top-tier dance classes and fly to various countries, fans claimed that Dita's family indeed has a "gold spoon" for being able to support the idol's dream financially as well.
