LE SSERAFIM Eunchae Crosses the Line with Raunchy Moves— 'Perfect Night' Sparks Heated Debate

LE SSERAFIM's latest release, the music video for "Perfect Night," a collaborative project with the popular video game Overwatch 2, has generated a considerable amount of buzz within the K-Pop and gaming communities.

The music video cleverly blends elements of idol dance performances with iconic characters from the Overwatch 2 game, effectively catering to the interests of both K-Pop enthusiasts and gamers alike.

The 'Sexy' Dance Move in 'Perfect Night

While "Perfect Night" and its accompanying song have been met with predominantly positive feedback, a contentious issue has emerged, centered around a particular segment of the choreography, particularly due to the group's youngest member, 16-year-old Eunchae.

Eunchae, often referred to as the "maknae" or the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM, has found herself at the center of this debate. This isn't the first time the group's choreography has sparked controversy, primarily because of the inclusion of dance moves deemed too sensual or suggestive for someone of her age.

The issue first surfaced during the release of "FEARLESS," where netizens expressed discomfort with a segment of the choreography that involved the members thrusting against the floor.

Fortunately, this contentious choreography element was modified for live performances to address concerns.

A subsequent dance move in LE SSERAFIM's more recent title track, "UNFORGIVEN," also faced criticism for its suggestive and somewhat awkward nature, affecting not just Eunchae but the entire group.

The particular segment in question occurs around the 0:20 mark in their dance practice video. In the case of "Perfect Night," a new "sexy" dance move has raised eyebrows among viewers.

While it is more conspicuous during live performances and is somewhat contingent on the choice of outfits, some find this move to be more suggestive than previous choreographic elements.

The controversy surrounding Eunchae's choreography led to a Reddit discussion, initiated by an individual who expressed strong disapproval of the specific dance move gained significant attention, with numerous commenters voicing their agreement.

The consensus among these commenters is that the dance move is indeed inappropriate for Eunchae and that it seems to be part of an ongoing pattern within LE SSERAFIM's performances, which some find troubling.

Netizens' comments:

  • "I've been a fan of LE SSERAFIM for a while, but I must admit that the choreography in "Perfect Night" is pushing boundaries. Eunchae is talented, but she's only 16! We should be mindful of her age and the content she's performing"
  • It's not just about Eunchae; it's about the responsibility of the industry and the group as a whole. They should be more cautious when choreographing moves for underage members."
  •  "This isn't the first time we've seen this in the industry, and it probably won't be the last. Let's not be too harsh on LE SSERAFIM"
  • " I think the industry should have stricter guidelines when it comes to underage idols and their choreography. This controversy is a wake-up call for all K-Pop groups."

However, not everyone shares this viewpoint. Some commenters believe that it may have been overreacting to the dance move and that it does not warrant the designation of a "controversy" when compared to other, more explicitly suggestive dances that can be found in the K-Pop industry.

The controversy, therefore, presents a division of opinions among fans and viewers of LE SSERAFIM's work, with some seeing it as an issue of concern while others consider it to be a relatively minor matter in the broader context of K-Pop.
