Here's what happened.
HYBE Founder Bang Si Hyuk Defended by Stans: 'K-pop never had originality'
On November 8, X (Twitter) was flocked by stans who defended Bang Si Hyuk for his "controversial" comment regarding K-pop.
The netters called out Bang Si Hyuk for his intentions for the K-pop industry and claimed that by doing so would remove the unique identity of Korean pop music entirely. Some also pointed out the "Western worship" in Bang Si Hyuk's plans and thoughts.
- "Removing the K in K-pop would hardly solve anything."
- "Unlike in 2012, K-pop is now accessible these days because of its popularity. The portion who aren't K-pop fans are just people who are simply not into it because it's not their taste."
- "Why not just call it pop then and not K-pop?"
- "The Western worship is just insane."
it's declining because people like you are obsessed with western validation, kpop losing its essence and originality for many reasons one of its the lack of korean languages, too many white producers, most kpop songs have weird nonsense lyrics and sudden unnecessary drop beats. https://t.co/wtVZs8IXiB

They also relayed that K-pop's characteristics were borrowed from Japanese idol systems and Western music genres. Read their comments below:
Kpop has never had essence and originality. It has never been about good music. Its been about visuals and mimicking other cultures. Y'all are just mad that these idols are not singing in Korean as y'all you like. Because it's not about the lyrics as y'all don't read them. https://t.co/PMM8NXips7

Structurally the industry is built upon the Japanese idol system and western styles of music, primarily taken from black culture, such as hip hop. K-pop has nothing that resembles Korean culture other than it’s performers’ nationality and even that is not given +

The “Western validation” argument you cry about is the industry’s attempt to enter new markets, it was there before BTS but couldn’t actualise because K-pop , as said, is not a genre but an industry. if you’re not interested in the visual & performance aspect, you won’t be a fan+

I don't see why it's his fault tho. At most he is responsible for what BTS and the other groups in Hybe do, but if the whole of K-pop is doing what you say, it's because everyone chooses to follow who is at the top. No one is forcing them to look for Western validation lol

Y’all actin like Kpop has ever been original is funny to me. 1st gen was TLC & Dru Hill rip offs. 2nd & 3rd gen was full of white producers. Many kpop aesthetics were found in jpop. Kpop has had western producers with nonsensical lyrics & English singles since the dawn of time. https://t.co/pD4xJ7VJke
