Living in a country with sky-high real estate prices, an ordinary citizen can only imagine buying a billion-worth house, let alone with loans.

5 Idols With Luxury Houses in Wealthiest Neighborhoods in Korea Bought in Cash

1. IU

From living in a small house infested with cockroaches, IU truly turned her life around by being the richest Korean female star in the country.

After earning riches, IU invested in various real estate and one of the most shocking was when she bought a 13 billion ($10.2M) ultra-luxury villa.

The villa is called Eterno Cheongdam, a luxury apartment located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The sale price is said to be around 200 million won per pyeong (3.158 m2 = $153.8k), the highest price in Korea.

In 2019, the leader of BTS RM bought a high-end room in Hannam: The Hill located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, under his name.

The said apartment has a supply area of 293.93㎡ (about 89 pyeong) and a dedicated area of 244.34㎡ (about 74 pyeong) and was purchased at the selling price of 4.9 billion won ($4.4M) at the time in full cash! However, in 2021, RM sold it for 5.8 billion won and earned a 900M KRW profit.

In 2021, BTS RM bought another house in the famous Nine One Hannam for 6.3 billion KRW (around 5.69 million USD when purchased) without loans again.

Along with RM, Jimin also bought a luxury apartment in Korea's "Beverly Hills," the Nine One Hannam in 2021.

He bought the same size and room as RM, but the idol paid 5.9 billion KRW (around 5.3 million USD at the time) a few million less than RM since he opted for the one without a terrace.

4. BLACKPINK Lisa

In February, Thai-born K-pop idol Lisa also bought a detached house in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, for 7.5 billion won ($5.8M) under her name.

According to reports at the time, Lisa paid the full amount in cash because the right to collateral security was not caught on a copy of the register.

Although the house was built long ago in 2016, Lisa shocked netizens by buying a home in Seongbuk-dong, which is famous for being a "Chairman's Neighborhood."

Only the wealthiest can afford a house here, such as the leading corporate CEOs and highest-paid actors such as Led Minho and Lee Seung Gi.

5. BLACKPINK Jennie

Last but not least, Jennie also purchased a second basement floor household of a luxury villa in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu Seoul, also known as the UN Village.
