LE SSERAFIM Spills the Beans on Why They're Saying 'No' to the Group Greeting Trend— 'We want freedom to...'

In a departure from the norm, LE SSERAFIM has made it clear that they won't be jumping on the K-Pop bandwagon of adopting a signature "group greeting."

The revelation came during their recent appearance on American radio personality Zach Sang's talk show, where the group shed light on their decision to forgo this widely embraced trend in the K-Pop industry.

Fresh off the release of their first English single, "Perfect Night," LE SSERAFIM embarked on a promotional tour in the United States, making stops in New York and Los Angeles.

During their stateside venture, the group sat down with Zach Sang for an in-depth interview, delving into various aspects of their journey, including their unique group dynamic and involvement in music creation.

As the interview unfolded, the absence of a distinctive group greeting became evident when Zach Sang prompted the members to introduce themselves officially.

Yunjin's honest response, stating that they "don't really have an intro," sparked curiosity. Zach Sang acknowledged the rarity of such a situation, considering that many K-Pop groups are known for their synchronized greetings and accompanying hand signs.

Yunjin clarified that LE SSERAFIM intentionally avoided adopting a "signature greeting" or hand signal, opting for a straightforward introduction - "Hi, we're LE SSERAFIM."

This departure from the norm prompted Zach Sang to inquire if the group's decision was a deliberate move to disrupt the standard K-Pop practices, aligning with their "fearless" concept. Yunjin clarified that their choice wasn't about breaking K-Pop rules but rather a preference for simplicity.

The LE SSERAFIM member revealed that the company, Source Music, had initially suggested creating a hand symbol before their debut. However, when the members expressed their desire for a "neater" and simpler introduction, the company respected their decision.

Sakura explained that this choice was made to allow the group the freedom to present themselves in diverse ways, avoiding the constraints of a fixed and unchanging signature greeting throughout their career.

LE SSERAFIM's stance against the conventional group greeting trend showcases their commitment to individuality and a desire for flexibility in defining their public persona as they navigate the evolving landscape of the K-Pop industry.
