In a recent appearance on "Jae-Jae-Friend," renowned singer Hyuna bared her soul, shedding light on the intricacies of her career, personal choices, and the relentless scrutiny that comes with fame.
Sipping on Honesty
The 11th episode of "Jae-chin," titled "I'm looking for a friend. Please contact me.Jae-chin Ep.22 Hyuna Kim and Jae-joong," was unveiled on the "uhmg studio" YouTube channel.
During a candid exchange, Kim Jae-joong playfully inquired about Hyuna's recent indulgence in alcohol, prompting her to confess, "I've never felt that alcohol was delicious. I don't like sugary drinks and I like soju. The company encourages alcohol. That's why I started to drink."
Despite her petite stature, she shared her inclination towards feeling the effects quickly, adding, "It's so nice to know on my own these days. If I knew it quickly, I wouldn't have been able to work hard."
Embracing Freedom: On Alcohol and Independence
As the conversation delved into the liberating nature of alcohol, Kim Jae-joong remarked on the freedom that comes with inebriation.
Hyuna, however, asserted her innate freedom, stating, "I'm free even if I don't drink. Does it bother you when you drink? People feel comfortable when I'm comfortable." She reflected on her journey to independence, revealing, "I've been living in the dorm since I was an elementary school student. So I left as soon as I became an adult. That's when I wanted to have a single room. It's nice to have my own space to use a single room. I have a pet that I'm staying with now. We go to work together."
Embracing Imperfections and Age
In a refreshing display of self-acceptance, Hyuna opened up about her mole, disclosing that the makeup director advised her not to cover it. Dismissing concerns about age, she expressed, "I've been erasing it, but it's my mole. I don't worry about my age."
The conversation took a lighthearted turn as Kim Jae-joong shared his perspective on aging, focusing on the subtle changes in his lips.
Struggles with Perception and Image
Hyuna addressed the challenges she faces in maintaining her desired image, particularly during promotional periods.
Revealing her weight, she stated, "I weigh about 41kg during the promotion period. People think I'm 170, so people pass without recognizing me. I try to make myself look bigger [have a presence]. I even wear high heels. I still find it difficult for me."
Despite occasional disappointment from fans due to disparities between her on-stage and off-stage appearances, Hyuna remains steadfast, stating, "It's difficult, but I don't want to change my image. Many people are asking me to do something innocent. I feel like I'm going to keep going the way I've been going."
Hyuna's unfiltered revelations offer a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of navigating the complex world of fame, image, and self-identity.
