The fate of popular K-pop group Kepler hangs in the balance as contract extension discussions with their agency, Wake One, continue. With just six months remaining in their current contract, the agency has affirmed its commitment to negotiate a renewal.
Wake One, Kepler's agency, stated, "While no concrete coordination has been reached, discussions regarding the extension of Kepler's activities will persist." This stance echoes the agency's initial announcement in September of the previous year.
The scheduled end date for the current contract is July 3, a crucial period that has captivated the attention of members, including Kang Ye-seo and Mashiro.
Unyielding Efforts for Renewal
Despite facing challenges in coordinating with multiple agencies, Wake One remains steadfast in its pursuit of a contract renewal. Last year, the agency proactively initiated discussions, presenting a roadmap and strategy for the artists' long-term activities to all involved parties.
Unfortunately, a consensus was not reached, and the agency confirmed that Kepler's activity period remains unchanged. An official from Wake One emphasized, "We have not given up on negotiating to renew Kepler's activity extension, maintaining an unwavering position in ongoing discussions."
Limelight's Strategic Shift and Kepler Members' Future
In a parallel development, 143 Entertainment's group LIMELIGHT, which recently released its 3rd mini album 'LAST DANCE,' announced plans to conclude its three-member structure with this album's activities.
Kepler members Kang Ye-seo and Mashiro are expected to return to their original agency, 143 Entertainment, after the conclusion of Kepler's current activity period. Their individual activities will continue as the group undergoes a reorganization.
Kepler's Journey and Potential Contract Revision
Debuting on January 3, 2022, through Mnet's 'Girls Planet 999: Girls' Battle,' Kepler has made a significant impact with their debut album 'FIRST IMPACT' and the title song 'WA DA DA.' Garnering substantial popularity, particularly in Japan, the group celebrated its second debut anniversary on the 3rd of this month.
While scheduled to conclude activities on July 3rd, the final outcome hinges on the ongoing contract negotiations, adding an element of uncertainty to Kepler's future.
