Before BABYMONSTER introduced their current lineup, Vicky Wei and Jane Wang were first known members of the group. What happened to them after failing to join the team?
Only 7 Out of 10 Pre-Debut BABYMONSTER Members Were Introduced
In 2020, the two pre-debut members became familiar faces to K-pop fans after they joined China's "Youth With You," a spin-off of Korea's audition survival show, "Produce 101."
At the time, they introduced themselves as "BABYMONSTERS" who were then trainees of YG Entertainment China (Yaoxing Culture).

Prior to their appearance at the show, there was a rumor that the company would debut a new girl group with the same name - the two trainees drew attention for indirectly confirming it.
As the years went by, more details were revealed about BABYMONSTER before their debut.
In 2021, YG Foods' CEO Noh Hee Young revealed that the girl group will have 10 members, as she claimed, "There are like 10 Jennies in BABYMONSTER."
However, fast forward to November 2023, only 7 members were able to debut, and unfortunately, neither Vicky nor Jane were able to join the girl group's final lineup.
What Happened to Vicky Wei? Idol Debuted in Girl Group Univu5
After joining "Youth With You," where she was eliminated during the 16th episode, Vicky Wei returned to her label.
She was expected to return ro training and debut as BABYMONSTER, but she shocked K-pop fans when she left YG and announced her debut as a Chinese idol under her new label, Rock Forward Entertainment.
In March 2023, she stated that she would use her birth name Wei Chen to be promoted as a member of Univu5.
In April 2023, she officially debuted with the group's first single, "univus."
The group follows a worldview concept narrating how the group will be “breaking the chaos of the virtual world and recreating a new universe through self-exploration and connection with each other."
They also achieved decent followers and success mainly in China, but the group is pretty much unknown among global fans due to restrictions on their content from mainstream platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter.
What Happened to Jane Wang? Trainee Disappeared in K-pop Scene
Meanwhile, Jane Wang also left YG China after failing to win in "Youth With You." On top of that, she also wasn't able to debut as BABYMONSTER.
After that, she used to communicate with her global fans on Instagram until 2022.
After she stopped using the social media platform, she didn't have any significant next move related to the music scene.
Other than her Weibo where she frequently posts her photos and deals, Jane Wang is pretty much an influencer these days only.
