Chungha Talks About Feeling 'Exhausted' in 'Daebak Show,' Shares How Her Dogs Comforted Her
On February 6, K-pop diva Kim Chungha appeared as a guest on the 18th episode of Eric Nam's "Daebak Show."
In one of the interview's segments, Chungha and Eric Nam threaded on the former's hiatus. Eric Nam then remarked that Chungha exuded cheerful vibes compared to when they first met each other. This was responded to by Chungha, who acknowledged the tough road she went through.
Read their conversation below:
Eric Nam: "You brought up mental health, and if you don't mind me saying, I think, even when I first met you, until now, I think, right now you seem in a great place."
Eric Nam: "You see more extroverted and outgoing, and actually just very at peace and happy, which I think is amazing."
Chungha: "Oh, thank you. Yeah, I feel like I manage myself."
Eric Nam: "Yeah, but then, I feel like when we first met, you were just going through a rougher patch. I think you were very tired."
Chungha: "Yeah, I was exhausted. From then, I was just soaked."
Eric Nam: "You were just so tired, and you were always promoting. You were also everywhere in everything. So, I think it was always like always trying to figure out, that I hope you're taking care of yourself and getting rest."
Eric Nam: "It's a pattern for a lot of people who are in this industry to overwork, be overexposed, and fight through exhaustion and all those things."
Eric Nam then proceeded to ask Chungha how she managed her way out of the rough patch and moved forward. The "Sparkling" singer unveiled that her dogs were her safe space.
In the end, Chungha ended her reply with a positive note, stating how being thankful, opening up to others, and not shutting people out contributed to her growth.
Eric Nam: "For you, how have you come to find or try to manage that moving forward, balance that, and those during those difficult times, for people who are watching, our fans who are maybe going through a difficult time, what really helped you get through it?"
Chungha: "My dogs. I'm not going to lie, they were a big help for me. They were always there for me, you know? Just being at home. Rather than hearing your clock ticking, you can hear your dogs. It's a big comfort, their walking sounds or stench?"
Chungha: "You learn and grow from that difficult time, and it's crucial to not shut down people. Like 'I'm tired, just everything is boring.' Don't push back the people who come to you, because there aren't many people who do that, and they're less than expected."
Chungha: "I knew there were so many thankful people around me and I grew to be someone who can appreciate more than the past. Maintaining gratitude is important, be thankful to your people and everything, with your dogs walking."
