LeBron James Headband Returns For NBA Finals Game 7 But 'If It Gets Knocked Off' It Might Go [Video & Gif]

The LeBron James headband narrative is already played out and it's not even 24 hours after the Heat's game 6 victory. But James said at today's press conference it'll make a return for game 7.

Before the midway point of the fourth quarter in last night's game 6 of the NBA Finals, LeBron James went up for the ball off a crazy shot from Mario Chalmers, and dunked the ball.

In the process, LeBron James lost his headband.

Except, when he landed, he was sans headband. All of a sudden LeBron James was playing without his ubiquitous headband.

What was stranger still, was that James was getting to the bucket, when for the first three quarters, the Spurs had stymied his progress in the paint.

He was like a man possessed, and after starting the first three quarters shooting just 3-for-12 with the headband, he finished the game with the LeBron James headband gone.

Check out all of LeBron James highlights after losing his headband:

He finished, sans headband, 8-for-14 on the rest of the night, scoring a team-high 32 points to go with 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his fourth NBA Finals triple-double.

The triple-double ties him with Jason Kidd for the second most triple-doubles in playoff history with 12 (Magic Johnson leads the league with an astronomical 30!).

A LeBron James headband has always been visible any time James has taken the court as an NBA player. Though today, he did say he played a preseason game against Detroit in his rookie season without the headband, and he played badly.

Also during today's press conference with the media, James addressed the headband rumors, specfically: will he continue to go without his headband in tomorrow's do-or-die game 7?

James was pretty matter-of-fact about that saying, "I'm a little superstitious," which meant we'll see the ever-present headband at the start of game 7.

But James went on to say that "If it gets knocked off, me and him will have a little discussion," meaning he could go without the headband if fate intervenes like it did in game 6.

Anthropomorphizing the LeBron James headband in this way, just shows you how much of a personality the LeBron James headband has become.
