Jang Wonyoung's Fans Announce Boycott of IVE's Upcoming Comeback — Here's Why

Ahead of IVE's album release on April 29, Jang Wonyoung's fanbase declared that they won't be supporting the comeback for THESE reasons.

Jang Wonyoung's Chinese Fanbase Complains on Idol's Nonstop Schedule, Lack of Solo Activities

On April 4, JangWonyoung_CN, the idol's Chinese fanbase, with 18.3k followers, declared a boycott through an official statement. They complained about the company's greed, giving the global star's "murderous" schedules without rest.

Further, they claimed that Wonyoung wasn't given any opportunity to showcase a variety of herself due to the lack of individual activities aside from ad and magazine shoots.

In the lengthy statement, the fanbase started by recalling how Jang Wonyoung did everything in the past two years to create a name for herself. However, they pointed out the "murderous" schedule she had to suffer to do all her solo and group activities.

The fanbase questioned Starship Entertainment:

"Why did these murderous schedules happen? We believe it's because of the 47 fan signs that continued through the year-end ceremony.

Wonyoung had to complete her schedule by flying to three countries in a week for concerts and fan sign events. Also, instead of taking an overnight break at a local hotel after the show, she even flew late at night for her next schedule."

The fanbase noted that they tried to lessen this hectic schedule by purchasing more albums; hence, increasing the sales. But due to Starship's greed, Jang Wonyoung, who has remained professional, couldn't hide her fatigue amid back-to-back schedules.

Another reason the fanbase is boycotting is that Jang Wonyoung wasn't given any opportunity to showcase her abilities aside from filming commercials as she was already busy enough.

In the past 700 days, Jang Wonyoung hasn't had a single appearance in a variety show, which is unfortunate to international fans who only relied on seeing her online due to limited chances to see the idol offline.

With this, newer fans can't see a glimpse of her actual personality and sense of entertainment as well, thus, the fanbase complained that they are not satisfied with only seeing her in photos and videos.

Jang Wonyoung's Fanbase Demands Starship to Strengthen Protection to Idol

Lastly, the Chinese fanbase demands the label to strengthen the protection of Jang in China, regarding excessive malicious comments and the spreading of false information.

They highlighted that she has been receiving hateful rumors in the country from accounts similar to "Sojang."

"Wonyoung is being left helpless due to Starship’s complacent response. Starship shows no sincerity in the long-term development of Wonyoung."

For the three aforementioned reasons, JangWonyoung_CN declared:

"We decided to boycott all albums and merchandise from IVE."

They added:

"We don't think this boycott could change anything. We just express that we feel so much disappointment that we don't want to spend any more on Starship.

Jang Wonyoung always gives us happiness, but Starship gives us misery."
