NCT Wish Lauded for Witty Answers When Asked to Compare SM vs HYBE, DREAM vs Their Group

In an online community, NCT's youngest sub-unit WISH drew applause for their witty responses amid journalists' trap questions.

On April 3, SM Entertainment's new boy group NCT Wish held a media event "Wishfull DAY" to commemorate their 1st month of promoting in Korea.

During the interview, the members of NCT's Japan-based sub-unit impressed netizens with their intelligent answers, despite "trap questions" thrown by journalists to put them in a tight spot.

NCT Wish Ryo Wittily Dodges Question on Difference Between SM & HYBE, YG

On this day, the interview was divided into three pairs; Sion and Riku, Sakuya and Jaehee, then Yushi and Ryo.

Among the questions asked to them, three "trap questions" particularly drew the attention of K-pop fans, but the members made impressive responses.

Starting with Ryo and Yushi, they were asked about the difference between SM and other "Big 4" agencies, mentioning HYBE and YG, saying:

"You seem to have a lot of affection for SM, to the point that even your family members are SM fans. What do you think makes SM different from other agencies such as HYBE and YG?"

With this, Ryo delivered a brief yet impactful answer, responding:

"I only know SM."

NCT Wish Impressively Handles Question on Comparison Between Their Concept and DREAM's

Meanwhile, during the round interview with Sion and Riku, a journalist asked them about the difference between NCT Dream and Wish, who have overlapping youthful and refreshing concepts.

While one wrong mistake could start a fanwar between their respective fandoms, Sion properly handled the question with his response.

"Recently, DREAM-hyungs (older brother) made a comeback with 'Smoothie' and they are so cool. The hyungs can already do both cool, young, and pure concepts. But since we are just getting started, we want to work hard as well to show WISH's diverse sides."

Another question that they answered well was when they were indirectly asked to compare the difference between Japanese and Korean music broadcasts.

As a boy group promoting in both Japan and Korea, this is a crucial question that could also put them in a tight spot.

But Sion did well on dodging to answer the question, hilariously answering:

"There isn’t much of a difference between working in Korea and Japan. I think so. When I was working in Japan, I ate Japanese snacks at Japanese convenience stores, and when I was in Korea, I ate Korean snacks...haha."

Upon reading these answers, K-Netizens gave their approval to the group and agreed that they would surely last long in the music industry with their wit and professionalism.

  • "When did the interview happen? They really had bad intentions for the Wish babies. They thought they would bite at something."
  • "They dodged it so well."
  • "They are very smart. Those questions can easily attract aggression."
  • "Babies, you had a hard time, but you did very well."
