Shailene Woodley's 'Amazing Spider-Man' Role Is Delayed, But She Dazzles In New Trailer For 'The Spectacular Now' [VIDEO]

Actress Shailene Woodley has had a tumultuous few days.

First came the disappointing announcement that her role as Mary Jane in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" has been delayed until the third installment.

"Of course I'm bummed," said the 21-year-old to EW. "But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason."

"MJ only appeared in a few scenes and I wouldn't trade the experience of working with Andrew and Emma for three days on set for the world. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film."

The sequel to the 2012 reboot is expected land in theaters next year, with the third installment set for 2016.

At the same time, the actress can't be too sad at the moment, since a trailer for her upcoming film "The Spectacular Now" just premiered, with the movie set for theaters in August.

The film is a coming-of-age dramedy featuring Woodley opposite Miles Teller as two high school opposites who inexplicably fall for each other.

According to Variety, the film received rave reviews at Sundance Film Festival, with Woodley winding acting awards, and potentially more once the film gets a cinema release.

"It's a tough time to be a kid," Teller told MTV regarding the film.

"This is very real. You see the behind-the-scenes. It's great. It's beautifully written."
