K-Netz Bring Back GFriend Sowon's Reaction to Sudden Disbandment
Dispatch revealed that NewJeans was supposed to debut under Source Music, the same agency that created GFriend. However, after a series of interventions from ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, the junior girl group transferred to the aforementioned label.
Meanwhile, around the same time, GFriend decided not to renew their contracts, leading to a sudden disbandment.
Recalling the events at the time, netizens also brought back what the members felt when they received the news.
Starting with leader Sowon, she said:
"Well, my groupmates and I don't really see it as a complete disbandment. It was true that I had a hard time organizing my mind. I always thought that I would like to become an actress someday, but it was such sudden news that I didn't expect that the time would be now."

"It was really a hard time for me after the disbandment, but I had to live in the future and create a new path. I couldn't just suffer for too long. Of course, it took me a while before I was able to accept the truth. Now, about a year has passed, and all the members accepted and adopted. In fact, I think I'm the one who had the most difficulty adapting to it."
Former GFriend SinB Recalled How Much She Cried Following Disbandment News
In a separate interview, SinB also said:
"How are we supposed to tell the fans? We will not renew the contract. We couldn't talk about it first. So a month before the article came out, the members were crying on V Live after seeing the videos made by fans in support of us."
At the time, SinB told herself not to cry on the day of the disbandment announcement. However, she wasn't able to prevent it after reading the official article.
"I lived with Sowon and Eunha and when we read the article released that morning, we all came out of our rooms, crying. We initially thought we wouldn't cry but we all did.
Last year was really hard for everyone although we tried so hard not to make it obvious on broadcast and to fans. I can't imagine that I would have cried as much as I did last year. I think I did enough crying for my life just in that year alone."
