Yesterday, we reported Selena Gomez had found a new boyfriend, British singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran. But they're just friends, sources confirm, though it could become more than that.  

Us Magazine has two sources claiming the "Come and Get It" singer and British "Lego House" singer/songwriter have been hot and heavy since a Memorial Day introduction.

Gomez's newest BFF, Taylor Swift, introduced the 20-year-old Gomez to her touring partner, Britain's singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran.

The report claims that Gomez sought out the embrace of someone older than her former beau, Justin Bieber, since she didn't want to "take care of Justin like he was her child."

Taylor Swift is on-record as being opposed to the Selena Gomez Justin Bieber relationship. She famously stuck her tongue out at the pair as they embraced backstage at the Billboard Music Awards last month.

It seems Swift's matchmaking skills are up to the task, even if she's being dragged back into a beef with her ex-boyfriend, John Mayer.

According to Us Mag, Gomez thinks Sheeran "is a nice escape from that drama," involving Justin Bieber. 

Sheeran's "sensitive and sweet and a lot deeper than Justin," so Gomez doesn't need to deal with the adolescent brain of Justin, which has put her through some turmoil in the past.

But the source also claims Sheeran and Gomez "are friends with an open mind," which stands in contrast to the reports they're "hooking up."

They're simply "enjoying time together," after such a hot and heavy and somewhat coquettish flirtation between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber after they had reportedly called it quits.

Sheeran was spotted supposedly leaving Gomez's house in LA last week, carrying his guitars and loading them into a limosine. 

But Sheeran responded to media grilling about Gomez at the MuchMusic Video Awards less than a week ago that if he were set up with Selena Gomez, "I wouldn't complain."  

That just means the reports he hooked up with Gomez over Memorial Day weekend are false. He was still expectant about a possible hook up less than a week ago.
