After being a member of the "Nation's Girl Group," will TWICE Dahyun expand her popularity and join the list of Korea's "First Love" celebrities?
On May 13, various Korean media outlets including topstarnews reported that TWICE Dahyun had been cast for the female main lead role in the Korean remake of the Taiwanese hit film, "You Are the Apple of My Eye."
In particular, this is a huge offer as the movie became a big hit in China and is also famous among Asian countries.
On the same day, JYP Entertainment, the agency of Dahyun released their response, saying:
"Dahyun has received an offer for the Korean adaptation of ‘You Are the Apple of My Eye’ and is currently reviewing it.”
If the star accepts it, Dahyun will play the role of Shen Chia Yi (originally played by Michelle Chen). She is a role model student who consistently does well on her exams and is the "first love" of the boys in her class.
While she contempts guys who lack intelligence, he later becomes close to the class's troublemaker Ko Ching Teng (originally played by Kai Ko) and falls in love with him in the process.
The movie will cover the journey of the two characters for 15 years, spanning from their school years to adulthood, set in the period 1994 to 2005.
With this news, expectations increased if Dahyun will accept the role and if she will be able to cement her status as the new "Nation's First Love" following Bae Suzy and WJSN Bona.
Meanwhile, Dahyun is previously confirmed to make her acting debut in the upcoming independent feature film “Sprint" and is currently preparing for it.
Born in 1998, Dahyun debuted as a member of the group TWICE comprising Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu in 2015.
The group arose as "Nation's Girl Group" after receiving a lot of love by releasing hit songs such as "CHEER UP," "FANCY," "TT," and "Dance The Night Away."
In addition, TWICE is expanding its global influence by traveling to stadium venues around the world with its fifth world tour, "TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR 'READY TO BE" which is being held starting in Seoul in April 2023.
They will continue their popularity by holding solo concerts as part of their world tour at Yanmar Stadium Nagai, Osaka, Japan, on July 13th and 14th, and Ajinomoto Stadium, Tokyo, on July 20th and 21st.
In particular, on May 27th and 28th, the group will be the first foreign female artist to enter Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa, Japan and perform solo concerts.
