James Gandolfini Dead: Love Between Tony And Carmela Was One Of The Greatest I’ve Ever Known, Edie Falco, Television Wife, Says of ‘Sopranos’ Actor Who Was Married

James Gandolfini's television wife Edie Falco, who played Carmela on the "Sopranos," said she shared an intense love with the actor, who was married to Deborah Lin.

Edie Falco told Today Entertainment that James Gandolfini was "a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words."

"My heart goes out to his family. As those of us in his pretend one hold on to the memories of our intense and beautiful time together."

"The love between Tony and Carmela was one of the greatest I've ever known."

James Gandolfini admitted in an interview last year that he was in love with Edie Falco, even though he was married to actress Deborah Lin.

"I'm still in love with Edie. Of course, I love my wife, but I'm in love with Edie," James Gandolfini said in the interview with Vanity Fair.

"I don't know if I'm in love with Carmela or Edie or both. I'm in love with her."

Falco also admitted she had feelings for James Gandolfini and that six seasons on the "Sopranos" brought the two together.

"It was weird to sit down at a table and read with the actresses playing Tony's girlfriends. Occasionally I would get a sharp twinge at the back of my neck," Falco told Vanity Fair.

"Even years later, I remember when I saw Jim in 'God of Carnage' on Broadway, and he was Marcia Gay Harden's husband, and I had this 'How come I have to be OK with this?' kind of feeling."

James Gandolfini died of a massive heart attack in Italy on Wednesday and leaves behind his wife and two children.
