Among K-pop-related Korean dramas, which fictional bands you wish would debut for real?
Although the listed-below K-pop groups were created solely for the sake of their respective Korean dramas, they truly touched the hearts of music fans with the members' chemistry and bop releases.
1. A.N.JELL
Launched by AN Entertainment in 2009, A.N.JELL is comprised of Hwang Tae Gyung (Jang Geun Seuk), Kang Shin Woo (CNBLUE Jung Yong Hwa), Ko Minam (Park Shin Hye) and Jermy (F.T. Island Lee Hong Gi).
They debuted as part of the hit SBS drama, "You're Beautiful" with hit tracks including "Still" and "Promise" and up to date, these two songs remain ICONIC!
2. ECLIPSE
One of the hottest fictional K-pop bands in 2024 is ECLIPSE. The quartet is comprised of leader Inhyeok (N.Flying Lee Seung Hyub), main vocalist Seonjae (Byeon Woo Seok), drummer Hyunsoo (Moon Xion) and bassist/maknae Jay (OMEGA X Yang Hyuk).
In the drama "Lovely Runner," they debuted in 2009 and produce megahits, "Run Run," "You & I," "No Fate," and "I'll Be There."
In real life, their track, "Sudden Shower" is also a huge hit on MelOn chart.
3. Crude Play
Formed through the series, "The Liar and His Lover," Crude Play is comprised of Yoo Si Hyun (UNIQ Sung Joo), Lee Yeon (Teo), Ji In Ho (Jang Ki Yong) and Seo Chan Young (Lee Seo Won). They originally debuted in 2017 with Kang Han Gyul (Lee Hyun Woo), but he left and was replaced by Seo.
During their active days, they were notable for their songs, "Peter Pan," "I'm OK" and "In Your Eyes."
4. DREAM SWEET
In 2023, DREAM SWEET was created for the drama, "Doona!" including Lee Doona (Bae Suzy) as one of the members.
Here, they released "The Whispering Spell," along with her co-members Im Hayeon (Go Ah Sung), Shina (Rian), Yeji (Simeez) and Jisoo (Janet Suhh).
5. The Stupid
During the release of "Heartstrings" in 2011, the band called "The Stupid" debuted under the baton of leader Lee Shin (CNBLUE Jung Yong Hwa). The other members were Yeo Jeon Hee (CNBLUE Kang Min Hyuk), Oh Wonbin (guitarist) and Song Se Hyun (bassist).
6. Watermelon Sugar
In 2023, the fictional boy band Watermelon Sugar was introduced through the hit drama, "Twinkling Watermelon."
The group is composed of Ha Eun Gyeol (Ryeo Un), Ha Yi Chan (Choi Hyun Wook), Kang Hyun Hyul (Yoon Jae Chan), Lee Si Guk (Lee Hamin) and No Se Bum (Lee Su Chan).
7. S.O.U.L
In 2018, the group was created for the web drama, "Top Management."They debuted with their first and self-titled mini-album, showing the explosive visual chemistry and skills of Yeonwoo (Cha Eun Woo), Teo (Jung Yuan), I-rip (rapper Bang Jae Min) and Soo Yong (Ahn Hyo Seop).
