Earlier on May 21, PLEDIS Entertainment posted on fromis_9's fan community and shared that member Baek Ji Heon had visited the hospital due to pain in the abdomen. The idol was also advised by medical professionals to rest and take a break from activities.
Due to this reason, Baek Ji Heon couldn't partake in fromis_9's appearance at the "Korea On Stage - New Generation." The agency also kindly asked for everyone's understanding regarding the idol's situation.
"Baek Ji Heon was treated today at the hospital due to abdominal pain," PLEDIS Entertainment stated. "According to the opinion of medical professionals, Baek Ji Heon was advised to rest, thus, she is unable to participate in 'Korea On Stage - New Generation' today, so we ask for your understanding."
"We are planning to operate the schedule based on our artists' health, which is our top priority," PLEDIS continued. "We will do our best to support the treatment and recovery of our artists, so that Baek Ji Heon can meet her fans again in good health."
On May 23, PLEDIS Entertainment announced the continuation of Baek Ji Heon's sudden hiatus. According to Korean news outlets, the agency disclosed that Baek Ji Heon would also be absent from the group's activities on May 23 and 24.
PLEDIS also revealed that Baek Ji Heon would currently use this time to recover her physical condition and that the specific details about her return to the group's schedules aren't decided yet.
"fromis_9 member Baek Ji Heon will not be able to attend the events scheduled for May 23 and 24. We would like to inform you that Baek Ji Heon is currently resting to recover her physical condition."
In other news, netizens gathered in an online community to discuss the number of articles released regarding Baek Ji Heon and ILLIT Wonhee. On May 23, BELIFT LAB announced Wonhee's absence from ILLIT's university festival performance due to health concerns.
"Due to her poor health condition, Wonhee received medical treatment," BELIFT LAB shared. "Based on the advice of medical staff, she will not attend the Hannam University festival scheduled for May 23."
