Elbert Guillory Switches To Republican Party [VIDEO]: Is The Louisiana Senator A Flip-Flopper? GOP Member’s First Switch Was From Republican To Democrat In 2007

Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas), who recently switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, was originally a registered Republican and served on the Republican State central committee before he became a Democrat in 2007.

Elbert Guillory released a video earlier this week proclaiming his switch, explaining the history of the Republican Party, which was founded as the Abolitionist Movement in 1854, and mentions the betrayal of the Democrats within the struggle of civil rights for the black community.

But Elbert Guillory's change of parties wasn't his first switch.

In 2006, he decided to run for a State representative seat in the largely Democratic District 40 in Louisiana and formally switched the following year - a move many say was designed to cater to the local demographic.

But now that Elbert Guillory has higher stakes within his political ambitions, he's decided to switch back to the Republican Party.

"You see, in recent history, the Democrat Party has created the illusion that their agenda and their policies are what's best for black people. Somehow it's been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement with one simple creed: that slavery is a violation of the rights of man," Elbert Guillory says in his video.

"But the left is only concerned with one thing - control. And they disguise this control as charity. Programs such as welfare, food stamps, these programs aren't designed to lift black Americans out of poverty, they were always intended as a mechanism for politicians to control the black community."
