J-Hope has made headlines due to his newest purchase.

On June 20, Korean news outlet TenAsia released an exclusive report detailing J-Hope's latest purchase of a penthouse at Afer Hangang, which is a luxury neighborhood in Yongsan, Seoul.

According to sources, the unit is viewed as a duplex with a total of 273.86 square meters, which approximately translates to 2,948 square feet. It was also reported that J-Hope already allotted the unit in 2020, but the ownership only became official on June 10.

It then claimed that J-Hope had bought the duplex in full cash and that the house had an estimated price of ₩12.0 billion won (KRW), which was equivalent to $8.69 million dollars (USD).       

Afer Hangang is a newly established residential town near Yongsan Park, and its units offer tenants the sceneries of the park and Han River. The neighborhood reportedly consists of 26 units, including exclusive areas which range from 205.64 square meters to 274.94 square meters.

Other popular celebrities have also made purchases in the same area, including Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Han Hyo Joo, Soo Ae, Ryu Deok Hwan, and soccer player Kim Ki Hee.

The reports eventually reached a community forum, which was full of shocked netizens. They expressed their awe for J-Hope's expensive purchase, while others voiced out their concerns for the idol's privacy and called out the acquisition's public disclosure.
