Members of SM's Upcoming British Boy Group Revealed — Here Are K-Netz' Reactions

In online communities, the soon-to-debut British boy group under SM Entertainment is gaining attention, especially after the prospective members were revealed.

The news of SM Entertainment debuting a British boy group surfaced, along with the possible members' lineup. According to various sources, the group will consist of five members: James Sharp, Dexter Greenwood, Oliver Quinn, Blaise Noon, and Reese Carter.

Their positions in the group were also identified — James being the main dancer and center, Reese and Oliver as the main vocalists, while Dexter and Blaise would become the group's lead vocalists and dancers.

So far, these are the only information about the prospective members and the lineup could change significantly as they approach their upcoming debut this year.

Meanwhile, SM's first-ever British boy group is a team created in partnership with the UK-based entertainment company, Moon&Back (M&B). This is a label led by Nigel Hall, the producer of popular British competition shows such as "The X Factor" and "Britain's Got Talent."

Based on the initial information provided, M&B will be the one managing the group to promote in the UK, while SM will be providing the significant training, concept, and songs.

In February this year, SM Entertainment also mentioned that they will release a 6-episode TV series about the creation of the boy group, consisting of only British members.

This boy group is just one of their strategies to expand its reach overseas, on top of establishing Kreation Music Rights, a music publishing affiliate that earlier announced the recruitment of 84 local music composers to hold at least two large-scale song camps, maximizing their production capability.

When the members' faces and names spread online, K-netizens then conveyed their thoughts about the group, and their reactions were unexpected!

Often, K-netizens are skeptical and unwelcoming to K-pop-based boy groups, and most of the initial attempts eventually end up becoming a failure.

However, K-Netz were reminded of international boy groups such as One Direction after seeing the upcoming team. They showed favorable reactions, especially after knowing that the same label who would handle them also worked with the global boy group back then.

  • "Will they debut like N SYNC or Back Street Boys?"
  • "I feel like they will really become popular once they release their first album."
  • "I hope they will become something like One Direction."
  • "Oh, we're going to have our own 'Won' Direction, haha."
  • "Just imagine One Direction doing SMP."

But on top of the nostalgia that they are getting, people are already smitten by the boy group's visuals.

Among them, James and Oliver are getting compliments.

  • "James is my star."
  • "James really looks like Harry."
  • "James and Oliver, please."
  • "James, are you going to be active in Korea as well?"
  • "Born in 2004, please make Oliver's hair pretty after debut."
