Kwon Eunbi Recalls IZ*ONE Days As Leader — Which Member Gave Her A Hard Time the Most?

In an interview, Kwon Eunbi reminisced about when she was the leader of the K-pop girl group IZ*ONE before they disbanded.

How was it working with the 11 members?

On June 27, the YouTube channel KBS K-pop uploaded Episode 49 of "Eunchae's StarDiary," hosted by the LE SSERAFIM's maknae.

On this day, Kwon Eunbi, who recently made a solo comeback on June 18 with her single album, "SABOTAGE," appeared as the special guest and talked about various topics with her junior idol.

Eunchae introduced her as the leader of their leader, since prior to becoming LE SSERAFIM, their leader Kim Chaewon used to be a member of IZ*ONE, which was led by the senior idol until they parted ways in 2021.

While on the topic then, MC Hong asked Kwon about the difference between working as a soloist and being in a group and the latter opened up that it was generally lonely.

"First of all, it's lonely. But it's probably because I easily feel lonely. If you are a person who likes to be alone or stay at home, you would be fine.

Also, I liked it when we worked together, so I sometimes felt lonely when I worked alone. And there's a lot to do in three minutes. I feel it more."

Hearing this, Eunchae then delved deeper into her memories as the leader of IZ*ONE and asked:

"Who did you find difficult? Those who didn't listen to you?"

Eunbi then started it with a sigh and replied:

"There were various difficult cases. A member who was too hilarious that she gave me a hard time. We shouldn't laugh on stage, but
this member was hilarious. That member is, Choi Yena."

As the conversation went on, Eunchae also asked Eunbi what was it like working with her current fellow members, Sakura & Chaewon.

Eunbi paused and thought for a while before saying:

"Sakura was the second eldest unnie of our team. She is so reliable, almost like a tree? She played the middle role between the younger members and the unnies. She's a very mature friend."

She continued:

"As for Chaewon, when I first saw her, was she in high school? She was such a baby. So looking at her now, all grown up and a leader, I felt, 'So our Chaewon's all grown up."

Aside from her impression of the members, Eunbi also recalled her personal experience of leading a group with 12 members.

As the eldest member, the female star looked back on how she approached them, narrating:

"I approached them in the most non-scary way possible! I heard that I looked scary if I stay still so I think I tried to create the most comfortable environment possible so they could treat me comfortably."

She concluded the talk about IZ*ONE by expressing their love to her group, conveying:

"The position of being a leader? I would say it's the feeling of carrying about 11 suitcases. That's a joke! I think I was able to learn a lot of things from being a leader and it was also a time when I got such nice younger siblings. I believe that it was a very meaningful time for me."
