Did BABYMONSTER Ahyeon 'Tone Down' Her Stage Presence? Fans Notice 'Changes' Following Idol's Criticism

Ahyeon's current performance style is currently being discussed by fans.

A post shared by instagram

Earlier in June, Ahyeon made rounds on social media for her performances with BABYMONSTER. Some netizens particularly accused Ahyeon of being too extra during the group's stages, as they claimed that the idol performs too "aggressively."

This caused a debate in the K-pop community. While many praised Ahyeon's resolve to deliver excellent stages for her fans, others suggested the idol be cohesive with the group and not outshine the other members.

Meanwhile, some defended the idol and expressed that Ahyeon simply just has the confidence to showcase her talents as best as she could, and emphasized how much she's born to be on the stage.

Following the criticism of the idol, some netizens eventually noticed some changes in Ahyeon's performance style. On July 6, a TikTok user uploaded a video showing a "before and after" comparison regarding her "SHEESH" stages.

The netizen also accompanied the post with a caption, which showed distress towards the criticism Ahyeon received on her performances, which according to many, has led the idol to allegedly tone down her stage presence.

"You can definitely tell Ahyeon turned down her performance and vocals from all the comments she's been getting," OP remarked.

The comments section was filled with netizens who were divided in their reactions. According to their takes, some netizens applauded Ahyeon for taking the criticism well to improve and claimed her performance with BABYMONSTER has become better.

  • "It's not toxicity. This is how it should be done. You'll need to take criticism seriously, not personally because look at Ahyeon now. She sounds better and feels like she's with the group, performing as one."
  • "I feel like if you're starting as a group, all energy levels should be the same, otherwise you're trying to pave your way into becoming a soloist in the eyes of the audience, which might cause resentment."
  • "She listened! Let's go, Ahyeon."
  • "It sounds so much better now."
  • "I think it's a good improvement though."
  • "Not hate, but I do think that course of action is actually necessary."
  • "I love it when idols use constructive criticism to actually improve."

Meanwhile, others shook their heads and recalled how BLACKPINK Jennie experienced the same scrutiny during her past stages.

  • "Now look at the difference in the audience's reaction when she sings in a high tone vs. a normal one. The first one was much more hyped up compared to the normal one."
  • "That's actually so sad."
  • "My poor girl just wants to have fun on stage, people are so mean with a kid."
  • "She doesn't deserve the hate, especially since she's still young."
  • "I wish they would just let Ahyeon hype up the crowd. It's like history repeating itself, just like what they did to Jennie. I'm afraid."
  • "Why not enjoy her performance instead of criticizing her for everything she does?"
  • "They should let the poor girl have fun."
