THIS 'Queen of Tears' Star Shares She Almost Debuted as K-pop Idol: 'DSP Media Trainee...'

In an interview, THIS gorgeous rising actress revealed that she almost joined a popular K-pop girl group from DSP Media if she didn't enter the acting industry.

Following the global success of the hit TVN drama, "Queen of Tears," rising actress Lee Joo Bin has been receiving much love from the public day by day.

Aside from her noteworthy acting skills, Joo Bin is also gaining massive attention for her outstanding beauty, with fans wondering if her career would be more glorious if she only pursued her initial path of becoming a K-pop idol.

In particular, she is so beautiful that the ID photo she uploaded on her SNS was used without her permission for various purposes.

Netizens would pretend that they are Joo Bin while using her ID photo and she was even once called to the court because of stolen identity.

With her impact, K-pop fans expressed regret that if she only debuted as an idol, she would most likely be as popular as Jang Wonyoung or aespa Karina due to her AI-like visuals.

As a context, Lee Joo Bin in a recent interview revealed that she was one of the members of DSP's pre-debut girl group, which was later known as Rainbow. The group is a second-gen team that debuted in 2009 and is most notable for their hit, "A."

Regarding how she became a DSP Media trainee, Lee Joo Bin narrated that she received a casting offer when she was in high school from the label and passed the audition.

She explained:

"I wasn't that talented in singing or dancing."

However, she implied that she had top-tier visuals that could cover up all of that, so she spent each day dreaming of debuting with the other members she practiced with.

As time passed, she became a college student, and this was the time she decided to quit her two-year trainee life at DSP Media.

Lee cited "lack of skills" and "relatively old to be an idol" as the reasons. However, if you look at the ages of the members who actually debuted as Rainbow, there are three members who are one year older than her, who was born in 1989.

With this, she furthered that the biggest reason she gave up on becoming an idol was due to her strong passion for becoming an actress.

However, her transition isn't that easy. Before landing acting jobs, she had to earn money by becoming a model until she landed her first main acting role for, "Love Is Jungle" in 2018.

Since then, she established her name as actress Lee Joo Bin with her works including, "Mr. Sunshine," "Be Melodramatic," "She Would Never Know," "Money Heist" and "Queen of Tears."

Despite choosing a different path, the actress shared that she maintained a close friendship with Rainbow members and said:

"Looking back, I think I practiced hard because I was close with the members rather than because I really dreamed of becoming a singer."
