On July 16, KQ Entertainment released an official statement announcing the passing of Seonghwa's grandfather. According to the post, the agency expressed condolences and asked for fans' encouragement for Seonghwa during this difficult time.
KQ Entertainment also shared that after a thorough discussion with Seonghwa, the idol has resumed his schedule in the United States after being with his loved ones for the funeral.
Therefore, Seonghwa will not be able to attend ATEEZ's "TOWARDS THE LIGHT: WILL TO POWER IN OAKLAND SOUNDCHECK," scheduled for July 17. However, the idol will still participate in the concert.
"We regret to inform you of Seonghwa's grandfather's passing on July 15. We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies and ask for your condolences and encouragement for Seonghwa during this time as we keep the dearly departed in our thoughts and prayers.
After careful discussions with the company, Seonghwa decided that he will return to his schedules in the U.S. after taking his time to be with his family and friends for the mourning process and funeral."
