LE SSERAFIM Sakura Confesses Burden With Career: 'I Don't Know Why I Chose To Be An Idol...'

Fans are heartbroken after LE SSERAFIM's recent documentary revealed Sakura's burdens as an idol.

On July 29, LE SSERAFIM released their documentary, "Make It Look Easy," on HYBE Labels' official YouTube account. There, LE SSERAFIM's Sakura was seen in tears due to the pressure.

After wrapping up promotions for their first full album, "UNFORGIVEN," Sakura shed tears under the weight of the pressure while she practiced singing. She confessed, "I’m scared of singing in front of people. I'm so scared."

Sakura revealed that she often wonders why she chose this line of work and contemplated whether this is the right job for her. She stated, "I don't know why I chose to become an idol. Why should I? It's not that being an idol was a wrong choice, but sometimes I wonder if being an idol is the best job for me. When I make mistakes or feel my limits, I think maybe other talented people could have done it better instead of me."

However, Sakura stated that this is the job that makes her feel the happiest. She added that she originally did not think so negatively about herself, but she started having such thoughts due to the hate comments she received.

She stated, "No matter what people say, this job is the only one that makes me feel excited and happy. But I thought that this might not be right for me, or I doubted myself because I was not good enough or I was not talented. I originally did not think this way, but hearing many things makes me occasionally feel this way."

As she cried, the idol said, "I don't know why I have to have such a hard time. I don't know why I have to cry so much. Why do I have to go this far? What is it that I want to do?"

Despite sharing her raw thoughts and shedding tears, the idol headed back to the practice room.

As this scene went viral on social media, Korean netizens expressed their sadness over seeing Sakura in tears. They claim that the comments she gets are unwarranted and that most are unnecessarily mean to her. Many expressed pity for the idol, and hope that she finds strength.

However, others slammed HYBE for including such a scene in the documentary, claiming that this was just one of their "marketing tactics." K-netz defended Sakura, stating they have no right to judge Sakura and that the documentary was made for fans to watch.

Some comments from Korean netizens read,

  • "LE SSERAFIM's haters are going too far with the forced hate in the comments. It's scary."
  • "I feel bad for Sakura..."
  • "Why are there so many people that think they have the right to judge someone else's life?"
  • "Find strength, and I hope she continues to work hard. Dancing has indeed become a priority among idols nowadays. However, LE SSERAFIM has already accumulated years of experience and faced significant challenges, not just as individuals but as a group. Continuing down this path could risk their success of theirs. While avoiding issues is one way to cope, the fact that they are trying to find and confront their issues makes me excited for them. Cheer up, LE SSERAFIM!"
  • "Stray strong, Sakura."
  • "I find it weird that the company is resorting to these tactics..."
  • "HYBE needs to stop using this kind of marketing tactics."
  • "I feel like the hate the LE SSERAFIM members are getting at this point is all unwarranted. I feel so bad for everyone on the team."
  • "The comments are so mean..."
  • "This is a documentary made for their fans, so why are people judging her entire life based on this one clip?"
