Controversial Idol-Turned-Farmer Updates on Poor Harvest: 'All Corns Were Rotten'
Kim Hyun Joong

Kim Hyun Joong made waves in Asia as an idol-actor following his notable works, "Boys Over Flowers" and "Playful Kiss." At the time, his popularity was on par with Lee Min Ho and Jang Geun Seuk.

However, he lost his position in the limelight in 2014 after he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who claimed that he experienced miscarriage and abortion due to his wrongdoings.

They had a son in the middle of the case, but Hyun Joong denied that it was his and refused to pay child support for 8 years. Later on, a DNA test proved that the son was his biological child.

Kim attempted to revive his career, but in 2017, he completely lost fans' trust after being involved in a DUI case.

In May this year, SS501 member-turned-actor Kim Hyun Joong shocked the public as he announced that he was pursuing a new path in a rural area as a farmer.

While this is a respectable work, netizens mocked him as they didn't expect that the OG "Prince of Hallyu Wave" would have to do general labor when he used to be larger than life.

When he planted his crops three months ago, Kim showed high hopes. On Aug. 28th, he posted a new vlog on his YouTube channel, updating on how his farming life has been going.

In the video, Kim Hyun Joong was embarrassed by the jungle-like entrance full of weeds and said:

"Isn't the land so bad? The entrance to my land is gone."

Upon checking his crops, the idol-actor panicked, saying:

"The corn is almost dead. This is inedible. It's mini corn. What should I do?"

Fortunately, the tomatoes he planted grew, and seeing it, gave him a ray of hope as he claimed:

"I guess I'm made for tomato farming. What should I do when all the corn is dead?"

The village head comforted the newbie farmer and explained:

"It's not dead, it's because you missed the harvest season. If you plant the corn during dense season, there will be less weeds."

He found a section of good corn and decided to harvest it first but he was surprised after checking that the corn was either rotten inside, eaten, or bitten by bugs.

A lot of it also was not able to grow in its full size, leaving Kim the decision to just throw it all away.

In the end, he lamented as he finished his first harvest as a farmer, saying:

"Why did they grow like that? It's kind of empty."
