The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has finally spoken out on the controversy of WINNER Seunghoon "disrupting" a game, which was submitted as a civil complaint.
On Sept. 11th, the National Archives of Korea (NAK), a government agency, released its response to a civil complaint filed against the K-pop idol through KBO.
In particular, Lee Seunghoon, hereinafter Hoony, was invited on the 28th of last month to attend the game between Lotte Giants and Hanwha Eagles held at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan.
As the pride of Busan, his hometown, Seunghoon threw the ceremonial first pitch. The K-pop star supported their team, Lotte, and filled the venue with positive energy by doing a ceremonial dance before throwing the ball.
Hoony also showed his satisfaction by posting a clip of his dance pitch on his SNS.
Unfortunately, the dance, which lasted for 18 seconds led to a civil complaint, as some baseball fans thought the act was "unnecessary" and that it was just a "nuisance."
Locals urged the KBO to "immediately send an official letter to each team to prevent inappropriate first pitches by celebrities that disrupt the flow of the game, and to devise thorough countermeasures.”
About two weeks after the incident was filed and confirmed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, KBO released its position from NAK and stated:
"We are grateful for your concern regarding the controversy surrounding Lee Seunghoon’s first pitch.
KBO prioritizes the smooth progress of the game, the safety of the players, and the satisfaction of the fans.
We will continue to consult with each team to refrain from excessively disrupting the flow of the game when conducting first-pitch events in the future."
While the male idol showed intense passion to make his first pitch enjoyable and memorable, it ended as a humiliating act as it ended up being labeled as, "first pitches that disrupt the flow of the game."
